D.4 Coaches and how they Function
Every team will have at least one coach, you may not sign more than two but you don't have to sign two. They will be available in the Auction the same as all other veteran and undrafted rookies. You will nominate them the same way and pay them salaries, trade them, and contract them the same way. They are not available for RFA, Extensions, or Franchise tags.
At the beginning of the off-season (end of off season for Inaugural year) you will designate which of your two (if you have two) coaches will be the head coach. Any time after this if you have a coaching change you may change your designated head coach, but only when you have a coaching changes on your team may you do this. You will use his scheme for signing bonuses. Your coaches scheme is determined by what ESPN has his team as running. For example if you look at the bills depth chart on ESPN it has them with a base 4-3 D while the Jets have a 3-4. If you have the bills coach and you designate him as your head coach then you would get a 5% discount on signing any DL or LB Free Agents that play on a real life team that runs a 4-3, vice versa if you have the Jets coach as your Head Coach. It doesn't matter if they run a 4-3 55% of the time and a 3-4 the other 45%. We will go off the ESPN page for stability.YOU MUST STATE WHEN POSTING THE CONTRACT WHETHER YOU HAVE EARNED THE DISCOUNT. It is not the commisioners job to track all defensive players signed and compare them to your coaching scheme. You must do the legwork and then I will adjust the salary on MFL.
During the season you will start one coach each week and if his team wins you will get 10 points, if he loses you will score 0 points, a tie will net you 5 points. So to go along with scheme you will want to consider how good his team is. Or you could name the coach with the scheme you like better as head coach and during the season play the other coach if his real NFL team is better. I feel like coaches will provide us with a unique dynamic and make the off-season a bit more interesting as well. If a real life coach is fired mid-season then you will automatically sign his replacement for the same contract as the previous coach. This prevents you from losing a coach when there is possibly no Free Agent coaches to replace him with.
