M.1 The main reason I created both Legion 2.0 and the founding Legion league is because I wanted to create a league that inspires owners to be active all year. That draws you in even when there is only 1 NFL news story in a month. I wanted leagues that were a little bit different yet familiar enough that owners would be comfortable.
Legion 2.0 takes activity to a whole new level. We already have the Tiered Player system that creates dynamic salaries for our players year over year. We have the Owner prestige system that rewards owners for creating a true dynasty that is triumphant from year to year. Now for the truly engaging part of Legion 2.0. Participation will be broken into three parts: League Awards, Polls, and Owner titles (covered in its own thread). Each of these will affect the league in various ways and require owners to stay active through January. The only down time in Legion 2.0 will be from the end of January to the start of March. More on each the branches of participation:
M.2 League awards
These awards will range from the league as a whole voting on traditional awards such as: MVP, Owner of the year, and rookie of the year. To creating a pro bowl roster. Each of the awards will add prestige to the winning owner. Categories and explanations for each are below.
MVP - This is the player that the league votes as the most valuable player. It could simply be the highest scoring player, it could be a player that carried a team all the way through the season, it could be a player that was top 10 or 20 but that really had some big games to win match-ups for his owner. Make sure and evaluate thoroughly before voting on this as the owner of the MVP will receive 1 prestige point (PP).
Each team will nominate 2 players for MVP. The top 5 will be voted on by the league.
Owner of the year - This owner will not just be the one who won the Superbowl but the one who improved his team the most, was active, friendly, made trades, waiver, and free agent moves and is just the overall best team owner in a given year. Of course team record should come into consideration on this. The winner of the owner of the year award will receive 2 PP. Each team will nominate one owner for the award and the top five will be voted on by the league.
Playoff Hero - This will be carried out the same as prior awards. This award is for the player that really stepped up his game and helped pull a team through the playoffs. It could be one spectacular performance by a wild card team player or it could be a player that pushed his team to the Superbowl. 16 nominations and top 5 will be voted for the award. 1 PP reward.
Rookie of the Year - Same thing as above but for Legion Rookies. Take into consideration those that acutally played for a legion team, how well they performed, etc.
Offensive or Defensive Player of the Year: Whichever side of the ball doesn't win MVP will be up for the player of the year award. Each team will nominate 2 players and the top 5 will be on the final ballot. Same considerations should be given as you do other awards. 1PP to team of winner
Pro-Bowl - As a league we will vote on a pro bowl. Each owner that has a player that makes it to the pro-bowl will receive .5 PP per player. Players should not be nominated solely for putting up big stats but for how they contributed to their individual teams. Coming through in the clutch on a Monday night to win for their team should be put into consideration. Positions and nomination and voting process are as follows:
QB - 32 nominations top 6 are voted on.(Top 2 make it)
RB (2) - 32 nominations top 6 are voted on (top 2 make it)
WR (3) - 32 nominations top 8 are voted on (top 3 make it)
TE (2) - 32 nominations top 6 are voted on (top 2 make it)
DL (2) - 32 nominations top 6 are voted on (top 2 make it)
LB (3) - 32 nominations top 8 are voted on (top 3 make it)
CB (2) - 32 nominations top 6 are voted on (top 2 make it)
S (2) - 32 nominations top 6 are voted on (top 2 make it)
M.3 Polls
During the Off-Season there will be a poll posted on Proboards every week to two weeks. Voting on this poll will be mandatory. This requires you to log into proboards, look around, and vote. These will be "Check-In" polls. Not only will these polls keep owners active but it will keep me aware of who is still around in the league.
All polls will cover a range of topics. Polls will also be used during the off-season to change rules. Some rule changes will require a 12 out of 16 approval while others will only need majority. Requirements for rule changes will be posted with the poll. If you have a rule change during the season you would like to see put to vote in the upcoming off season then please let me know. Rule Change polls will ALL be check-in polls. Requiring every league member to vote on every Rule Change.
Punishment System:
First missed poll: warning
2nd missed poll: -.25PP
3rd Missed Poll: -.5PP
4th Missed Poll: -1PP & .5M Cap Hit
5th missed Poll: Discussion with owner about league commitment, possible replacement, -1PP & .5M Cap Hit
6th missed poll: owner replacement
Exceptions: When Multiple polls are posted at once (IE: Pro-bowls, awards, and rule change sessions) they will be grouped (IE: Group A, B, C, etc) and each group would count as one poll. So if you voted in all of group A you would be good. The issue comes down to if you voted in 9/10 of group A and for whatever reason missed that 10th poll but were active in all the others. I don't feel like it is necessary to punish owners for this because the intent of the rule is to insure activity which is obviously not the case when missing only 1/10. So the exception would be that punishment would be entirely up to the commish when parts of Grouped Polls are missed.
M.4 Hall of Fame:
Nomination system:
1.) A player must be retired from the NLF to be nominated.
2.) To be nominated 1 LG2 owner will nominate him, a 2nd owner must second the nomination
3.) Owners may not nominate players that would be inducted representing their team.
4.) Players must have played a minimum of 3 years for 1 LG2 Team.
5.) If a player played for more than 1 LG2 team for 3 or more years for each team then whoever he played for longest would be the representing team
6.) If they are still tied in the above tie-breaker then I will as the commish evaluate the players career with each team and decide which team he represents. If it is to close to call I will open the voting to the league to decide.
7.) A max of 3 players per year can be in the induction pool. (meaning 16 different owners could nominate a player but only 3 can make it all the way to final voting)
8.) Each owner may only nominate 1 player per year for induction
9.) If more than 3 players are nominated and seconded then we will have a Online Randomizer decide the 3 finalists (Can't see this being an issue to be honest)
10.) A player may only go through the nomination process 4 times, if after the 5th time they do not make it in they are not eligible for induction again for another 5 years at which point they have 4 more chances to be inducted. They may be nominated as many times as possible, but once they move to the actual voting portion they that can only happen 4 times.
Voting:
- After Nominations have been cast and seconded, I will compile all data on a relevant player (Legion Team going into the Hall for, career stats, awards, maybe some highlight videos, etc.)
- All teams will have a week to review the potential inductees.
- Teams will then vote based on if they believe they really do fit in the Hall of Fame. 13/16 is needed to make it in.
Reward:
- Teams with players that are inducted recieve: 2 PP and 3% of Rolling Jackpot
